As we get closer and closer to Atlanta Frocktails (can you believe that we’re less than 2 weeks out!?!!?) something has really been heavy on my mind…
Sewing and creating has become an outlet for so many of us. We see the jokes like “Sewing/Knitting/Crocheting is my therapy” and in truth, for many of us it is. But crafting can sometimes be a lonely thing. It’s not like we can just pick up our sewing machines and co-work at a coffee shop (you can at Topstitch though!) which is why things like retreats, Frocktails, etc are so necessary.
For some of us, it feels like the world is burning around us and we aren’t sure what to do and I don’t want our communications about Frocktails to feel as though we don’t know what’s currently happening.
We see it.
We feel it.
We are affected by it.
Joann’s shutting down has been a gut check for the community whether you loved them or not. Tariffs coming down are affecting pretty much everyone. And this is why doing the things that bring you joy are so important.
For us, being in community with fellow crafters is allowing our joy to still be nurtured and grow. Seeing the joy that other makers get when they exclaim that their dress “HAS POCKETS” fills our cups too. Watching the creative process of people on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, BlueSky, etc is inspiring.
So we want you to know that we get it… Things feel very hard right now. And we want you to come and meet us for a weekend that nurtures your joy and happy space. In the next coming emails, we’ll be sharing the events of the weekend and sponsors. If you’re on the fence and have questions, just shoot a message over to us on Instagram.
We hope to see you soon!
